1. Elders will tend to tell the truth as they see it to their own decedents and community.  Perhaps this need to unburden is a way of ensuring a legacy.
2. Oral tradition is a substantial source of subjective experience.
3. While much of oral tradition is allegorical the core framework would be based on real experiences.
